All 90 members of ‘Kent Scoobies’ will be putting their passion for Subarus to good use when they combine forces to complete a day-long drive to raise money for the Children’s Resource Centre, based at Darenth Valley Hospital.
Founded two years ago, Kent Scoobies is organised by Pele Cant of Lower Higham Rd, Chalk, who organises monthly meets across Kent for local Subaru enthusiasts.
The decision to combine Pele’s passion for Subarus with a charity drive came through her son Jake’s involvement with the Children’s Resource Centre. Jake is seven and has cerebral palsy which affects his legs. The Children’s Resource Centre has been invaluable in helping Jake cope with his illness and encourages the development of his social skills.
On 18 July, Kent Scoobies will be setting off from The Wharf in Maidstone at 9.30am. Their run will be a 180-mile round trip covering areas such as Whitstable, Margate, Dover and Folkestone.
The drive will aim to beat the success of their previous charity run, for which they raised £5,500. The money raised will provide the nursery with equipment desperately needed to help treat the children.
